Our Values

Here at Regent we believe that the whole of the Bible can be summed up by what Jesus said in Mark 12:30-31 when he was asked what the greatest commandment was. Jesus said: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” In other words – love God and love people!

In addition to giving us a ‘great commandment’ Jesus has also given us a ‘great commission’ – in Matthew 28:19, Jesus said these words: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” We believe that a great commitment to the great commandment and the great commission will grow a great church. That is why we say that at Regent Chapel we are a church passionate about God and passionate about people.

It is the vision of the elders at Regent Chapel that we should be a church that is committed to five core purposes, which are found in Acts 2:42-47.

Core Purposes

Worship: Loving the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Worship is so much more than singing songs, it is a lifestyle through which we strive to do all we can to please God.

Ministry: Demonstrating God’s love to those in need

The early church helped others with their practical needs. Our desire is to reach out to those in need inside and outside our church to provide practical help and share the love of Jesus.

Evangelism: Sharing the Good News of Jesus with others.

We are people who have experienced God’s love and mercy in our own lives, and as a result want to share this good news with others.

Discipleship: Maturing in our daily walk with Jesus

God’s desire is that we should all become more and more like Jesus. We want to help all those connected to our church to get to know God and His Word better, and so to become more like Jesus.

Fellowship: Caring for God’s family.

Our church is a family, where we want to care for, and encourage one another in our journey of faith. We seek to do this by meeting together and spending time with one another.
