Homegroups

Most of our home groups meet on a Tuesday evening, but some also meet on other nights or during the day. We usually focus our study time on the previous Sunday’s teaching theme. Home groups meet on the first and third weeks of the month.

Here’s some information on the different home groups that meet up and when.

Kingston Park

Claire & Andy Gibson

Message from Leaders:

Claire and I married in 1996 and now have two children. I worked as a Customs Officer for ten years, and Claire worked as a nursery nurse for 3 years, before going into Christian ministry together in 1999. We moved to Newcastle and started working for Regent in 2007. I enjoy watching the Newcastle Falcons rugby team in my spare time and Claire loves to bake and drink tea. You will find our homegroup to be a very safe space and loving group, committed to learning together about God.

Meeting Arrangements: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the 7:30pm.

Gosforth

Paul & Fiona Waugh

Message from Leaders:

‘The home group that meets at the Waugh’s home is an informal and relaxed group. We have lots of laughter, some tears, we talk and pray through a section of the Bible and ask all kinds of questions about our faith. We help each other move onwards on our faith journey, even though we are all at different points on that journey. A few members of the group take turns to lead.’

Meeting Arrangements: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month at 7:30pm.

Kingston Park

Stuart & Betty Woodward

Message from leaders:

Betty and I met at London Bible College and married in 1973. We have two children and five grandchildren. Our daughter, Rachel and husband Jon, with three of our grandchildren are active at regent chapel. Betty has been a nurse and midwife before retirement. I was a teacher, then worked for Scripture Union before spending 35 years as a Baptist Minister, though my youth was spent in the Salvation Army. Since my retirement we have been in Newcastle and a part of the Regent Chapel family. Our group is committed to mutual support and encouragement, and we enjoy learning together.

We generally meet on the Wednesday after the first Tuesday of the month and two weeks after that! Not as confusing as it sounds.

Meeting Arrangements: 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 7:30pm.

Day Group

Paul & Rita

Message from Leaders:

‘We were both born in Newcastle. Rita then moved to Doncaster for a while to train and teach for a few years. For all his working life Paul was in the Civil Service at Longbenton. Both of us are now retired and enjoy the theatre and caravanning. Paul enjoys football and is a season ticket holder at Newcastle United; whilst Rita enjoys a variety of crafts and attends the Sage in Gateshead, where she is part of two Steel Pans groups. We married at Regent Chapel in 1979. Now we have 3 grown up children and 2 beautiful granddaughters. Most of those attending our homegroup are retired, but we would be very happy to welcome anyone wanting to join.’

Meeting Arrangements: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 2pm.

Ponteland

Matt & Deborah Smith

Deborah and I both grew up in the North East and have been married since 2007. We have two lovely children - Grace and Thomas. Matt works in Software and in his spare time enjoys running and cycling. Deborah works part time teaching baby classes and enjoys holidays and reading. We have loved the community aspect of home group and try to have a real and honest approach to reading the word of God together. As a home group we keep a prayer diary together, where we prayerfully support each other through life’s various ups and downs.

Meeting Arrangements: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, 7pm.
